Another quiver
« on: February 06, 2013, 07:49:34 pm »
Put this one together today with the help from half eye. Thank you for you help.
This is an odawa everyday quiver made from a beaver pelt I tanned years ago .
It's 24" long, I used river cane inside for stiffeners, sewn with deer sinew, and braided hemp twine strap.
Was going to dye the hemp with natural dye but decided to leave it discolor with age.
It's a very simple quiver and it came out well.
half eye- please correct me if I have gotten anything wrong.

The plain fur or buckskin quivers were not just confined to the Odawa. Nearly all of the Great Lakes Riverine cultures used similiar ones. Any of the area tribes/nations used the type, and strangely enough so did the some of the Apache, Navaho.

Very nicely done Don, I hope to finish a fox one soon, have to give more thought to the strap I'll use. Thanks for sharing.
