Wet or chew the sinew and it will make it's own hide glue

You sure can. It will shrink and harden when it dries and tighten up.

I chew sinew for wraps. Saliva and the chewed sinew makes the glue. I rarely use glue. Once the wrap dries I seal it with pitch varnish.

Since I don't like to putting the sinew in my mouth, I use hide glue whenever I wrap with sinew. I just dip the sinew in water for a second and then start wrapping.
Pat's pine pitch varnish is the way to go if you want natural waterproofing.

If you really feel the need to use the glue, just put a small pinch in your mouth with the sinew. It works great.
