Snaky elm 65# 28"
« on: January 23, 2013, 11:45:55 am »
This is bow for my friend. Last spring he was at our workshop and saw one snaky elm. He wanted a bow from IT, remake of one off my old bows, Salamander. After a lot of time it is finally done. 70“ ntn, 2“ wide, 65# 28“. It had some deflex shape with one problematic kink in one limb. I wasn’t brave enough to try to correct it because there are two knots just in that spot. Bow itself was problematic for tillering. Limbs has oppostite twist, one reflexed other deflex-kinked. They do not start on the same height from handle, etc...

Final product is very stabile and balanced but somehow scary at full draw. :D

Great looking bow. I like the heartwood in the handle and how you have that deflexed area on the bottom doing a bit of work.

Cool piece, I love the heartwood at the handle and the overall texture of the wood. I bet it was not an easy birth...  ;D

This is a very cool bow, Druid. Is there any wood you can't make a beautiful bow from?  8)

That is quite the accomplishment right there.  Nice work as always Druid.
