Cold weather stave storage
« on: October 12, 2007, 01:30:21 pm »
Does it hurt yer staves to store at below freezing temperatures.?
Winter is coming and I have a bunch of staves in a unheated shed.
I'm thinking it shouldn't hurt them but what do I know ???

I've never noticed any bad things from storing staves without heat, except maybe they dry more slowly .

Never noticed any trouble if out of the sun and rain, but it doesn't get yankee cold around here.  Drier here in winter than summer, by a good measure.

I store allot of my staves in an un heated garage all year long. No issues. I am also in Michigan.....lower then you but probably similar temps.
