Well I went out this morning and finally got my first turkey with a bow.It was a beautiful morning,80 dgrs and no bugs. The hens started flying down into the field right after daylight. They walked and fed for an hour before they worked their way close enough for me to get a shot.I missed the first bird of the morning about 8:30 @ about 15 yards.they didn't go far but were too far to shoot. After a while they started clucking and I saw movement across the field.Seven big gobblers were working their way across the field to kick some Jake butt.I had hoped for this and set 3 Jake decoys right in front of the blind.Well they ran the Jakes off and I started calling a little. It got their attention and they started heading for my decoys.I'd made up my mind I was only going to shoot a mature bird and do it with a stone point and a bow I made.Well I got the chance at 10 yards and shot at the biggest one.I wasn't sure I hit him as the arrow didn't even slow down. The flew about 20 yards and thats when I so a bird limping.I took another shot at it but missed. The more he walked the more he wobbled and finally fell over. The other birds started kicking it's butt and having their way with him. When I got to him it was dead,I had hit it at the base of the neck. The arrow was the one I posted on arrows with the big coral point and tonkin boo.The big boy wieghed 18 1/2 lbs and had 1 1/4" spurs,8 1/2" beard. That was so much fun I might have to park the Benelli for awhile.
