Le Moyne inspired dogwood bow
« on: September 09, 2012, 03:50:36 am »
Here is a Le Moyne inspired 5 curve bow made of pacific dogwood. The le moyne engravings were drawn back in florida in an expeditions. Even though the natives looked more european and the bows not fitting for the area someone requested that I recreate one from the drawing, so I did. This bow is a nice little shooter. Its about 53lbs @26 inches. recurved tips. I did hickory over lays so I could get the shape in the nocks. Below I have the links to 2 of the drawing depicting the bows. and below the pics.

Nice job on that one, too, Cesar!! 8)

Very nice! Love the curves.

I've yet to see a dogwood in Pennsylvania that I could turn into a bow. So many twists and turns.

Cesar, you dog!  I love that bow!

Bring it up here to South Dakota and we'll take it out hunting!

Really cool bow.  Those engravings have always interested me, living in Florida.  I didn't know about the artist, now I do.  Thanks for sharing, noteworthy bow!

I just found two dogwoods yesterday that are straight enough to make bows from.  After seeing what you have done I can't wait till they get dry enough to start working.  Nice Job!
