Take a 4x4 your car jack and an old flat fan belt .It wors pretty good .

I just laid a 4x4 post on the tail gate of an old truck and put the stave on top of it then put a fan belt long enough to go around the board and stave also  including the jack (upside down underneath) and tightened her up it held real well ,but you might have to put the board on something else and fasten it tight with nails  if you value your truck alot .

anyway using draw knife with both hands beats holding a bow  under your arm and scraping with a surform.
