A Visit with TOWER
« on: June 10, 2012, 05:53:40 pm »
Yesterday I went to visit Mr. Tower to take advantage of his tremendous generosity and hospitality! ;D >:D

He lives near an area that is rich in ancient history and lithic resources!!

Here he is (on the right) with his brother testing the quality of some of the many hundreds of chert nodules on the surface...

Some arrowheads we knapped when we got back...

And my stash of rocks that I took home with me.
Here they are stacked next to my knapping pit.
Lots of really big nodules in there! Look at the cinder blocks on the left for size comparison.

Can't thank you enough, Don!!  It was a great day!!  I even got to eat BBQ with his family. ;D ;D ;D

Tower took chris and I there last march.  The Tower brothers are good people who are very generous.  We met on a crappy rainy day the the brothers  still wanted to take us out for some rock.

You guys look to have had way too much fun.  Now that my F150 has its new engine I need to bribe Paul and go on a rock run.  I was up in Nebraska this weekend and spent an hour or so going through my hosts rock garden.  Got a piece of petrified wood, 1 lonely piece of flint (looks like Pappy-ite) and 2 hammerstones.  I'm not as good as you and Don. :(

Yup, very stickery.  I sure don't miss the humidity!

Edit:

I forgot to mention that the arrowhead on the far left is one that Tower made in under 15 minutes!!

Drat!... that's going to be a tough speed record to beat. :-\
