Heat Treating question

Has anyone ever heat treated a board bow?  I'm using hickory.

   Yes. As long as the grain is good enough to handle the tension, it's the same as a stave. Of course, that's true of an untreated board too. You can heat treat, flip tips, bend for string alignment, whatever.
If I knew what I was doing, I'd probably be bored with it, and I wouldn't be here.

...but like any wood that is manipulated with heat of any kind, give it plenty of time to rehydrate before you stress it.
