Homemade arrow shafts

I kinds got my cart before the horse i posted them for trade and i didnt post them in the arrow section. i have made several and they shoot well for me, was just wanting some other input on them not alot of people shoot trad. archery around here little lone make there own arrow shafts. they are made out of poplar. I shoot a 31" and the shafts weighs 450 grains. makes for a hard hitting arrow.

These are poplar i get the boards from a local saw mill. These happened to come from Lowes

ok thank you Kullas, im going to look at a hard ware store for some lengths of wood that has a decent end grain and if possible matched on each end, and cut them into 1/2 inch squares or smaller :P might be oak might not be lol

White pine makes rather good shafts just make sure the grain is strait and no knots.

alas i cannot find any good pieces of wood all the wood i can find is rittled with knots and is 1 inch X 2 inches and about 8 foot length
