Bob:  I have one of Jessie's fluted cumberlands in my display case and its fluted perfectly down the end to the very end.  My opinion is the better the point you are attempting to flute and the very best set up of the nipple the better luck you will have!  I look forward to seeing your knapping skills!  Joe

Yall inspired me to give a Clovis the go.  I chose a spall of heated landscape stone.  I didn't have much bigger piece to begin with. It was a river cobble that had a bashed up exterior.  Some of that still appears in stone. Ill start with a bigger piece next time so I can get it more uniform next time.

I went after this rootbeer, with all abo.  I ended up with a cricket killer.  But its a clovis.  One side fluted well and the other did not.  it was hard to hold the thing.

Great clovis's. I still have not had a clovis attempt survive. How ever my last few attempts have been closer each time. I think next time I will go for a cricket killer and then work my way up. :o Little steps he he.

I fiqured I would give it one more try for this month ;D. I went to a differnt type of rock to see if that would change my luck, I got a nice spall off from a big pc of Rootbeer that I had and came up with this one, a little thicker than I like but I got 2 fair flutes and she held togeather. About 4" long and both flutes went just over half way. Sure glad March isn't 2 weeks longer I would be out of rock. Thanks for lookin. Bob
