Centershot Osage Flatbow
« on: April 16, 2012, 10:01:04 pm »
Heres a quickie i made over the weekend. I wanted a sweet shooting target bow(n possible hunting with it),so i came up with this game plan. A 64"ntn osage flatbow with a centershot shelf cut in. I let it follow the string a lil over an inch(for forgiveness of shooting). It came in at 63@27,dang i missed my weight by two pounds..lol.  ;)  8)   Padauk tip overlays. I left it el natural, nothing but bare naked wood.  :)  Its 1.7" deep where the shelf is cut,and a 1.5" deep dished grip. I made the riser section a little longer, and tillered my fades on the stiff side to ensure safety because i never cut a shelf so far in before. It worked like a charm and shoots wonderfully. The string is about dead nuts centershot. Im pretty geeked about this one. It spits a nice arra too  ;)   Thanks for peeking....Chris

it had a couple spots where it didnt clean up all the way on the sides of the fades and handle...but i just see them as beauty marks....heres unbraced and full draw from both ways.

Really NICE!! What's with you guys and all the osage? You'd think the stuff grew on trees!?! LOL!!

  "...all the way around!"

Howdy BlackHawk,

I was really enjoying the close-ups of the handle and rest, and then came the fill-draw shots...  Super!

That's a huntin' machine ;)

Awesome!  Looks a lot like a hickory bow a did last year with a cut-in, even that light yeller color is close to the teak-oiled hickory.  I've been wondering how padauk would look on osage, got plenty of that laying around.  Looks good 8)
