A long time ago, Lee S send me some glass to try to learn how to knapp. I promised I would post a/some points when I got them made out of it. This is the first one from that box Lee. Smoked Glass.



It officially my 6th completed point. Thanks again Lee!

Am I the only one that sees the glaring error in Bevan's last photo of that point.  If you didn't see it, stop reading and go back to look. 

Now you see it, don't you?!?!?!  Either he used a stand-in hand model to hold up that point or else someone other than himself knapped that point.  NO CUTS ON THOSE FINGERS!!!  Everyone knows a real knapper is all scarred up and half bled out!

Looks like we lost another wood shaver to the dark side.  The knappers have turned poor Bevan into one of their own.  *Sigh*

I guess I am still learning to knap.  I made several points and a knife saturday and never lost a drop.  I did get a blister though.  Nice point Bevan.  Keep it up!!!!!

Thursday, I was working with somd dacite that I got from Eddie a while back and cut my finger pretty bad.  It looked like a murder scene, I havent bled like that in quite a while.

Thanks guys.

JW - I ALWAYS wear a contractor glove on my left hand. I have several pokes and a dime sized blister on the other hand (holding the camera).
I had thought glass was tough until I tried to take some stuff off a piece of jasper I have. After that point was done, glass seems to easy.

That is what I had read/heard. I think this is already heated. I bought it sometime ago. It is just much more 'there' than glass or obsidian. :)

yeah it'll be a little tougher, but the more you knapp it the easyer it'll come, not easy, just easyer :laugh:, Bub
