A few recent bows
« on: March 26, 2012, 04:08:34 pm »
Here are a few of the recent bows I made, these are the shorty's that I'm teachin myself to shoot NA style instead of the upright, European style. The shortest is 37" and only 43# most are 46" to 48" and about 50/52# except the last one and that is a Kiowa 47" and probably 55/60 @ 25.....made for some big dude bown in Texas, figured he could post that one if he's so inclined.

All unbacked self bows, some are staves and some are edgegrain splits....woods are birch, elm, and osage.....

thank you, fellas. When the wife is back home I can get some photo's of the woodland bows and add to the pile. Del, that bow is the one I killed my little 8 point with this year....just over 50# and put a stone head clean through him at about 15/16 yards or so. Thanks again fellas.

Well PD, they are real plain and utilirarian and like I said before I guess if ya seen one ya about seen 'em all...........

every now and then I will fall down and hurt my head (or the cement) and come up with a crazy idea, so here is a "full circle" with EARS on her....strangest thing I believe I've tried. The madness was to see what happens with a short "full circle" with a longer string angle.

Does it have good early tension? It looks fast.

Yes it does have good tension at brace, the bow is 49" total and @ ear is about 5" or so. While I hate to call it a static recurve the ears dont even start to open till the last inch or so. and the bow has about 7/8 to 1 inch of set. The wood is red elm, vertical grain split off the side of a "quarter".
