I'm confused... Did the rules for what constitutes a backed bow change?  Or did they change just for this month because there were hardly any laminates posted?

There have been some minor changes, but these are all backed under the old rules.
#1 is silk backed
#2 is rawhide backed
#3 is boo backed
#4 is fabric/ fake snake backed
Everything happens for a reason, sometimes the reason is you made a bad decision.

From:
http://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/index.php/topic,21209.0.html  (Rules for Entering Bow of the Month):

2. Bows backed with soft materials:  Rawhide, Sinew, Snake skins, and Cloth backings all fall into the selfbow category.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, just looking for some clarity is all.  :)

OK see well, I guess I was confused because I thought silk backs were backed before.
Yes, then. When Cipriano took over and the other changes were made we decided to make a backed bow a backed bow. Sinew, rawhide, silk etc all protect the back and thus are backed bows. Snake skins will be the exception since they are done for looks.
