ID Help Please

Wrong time of year for this I know but the one bow I made from this wood blew me away(Skinny Little Booger, Bows) and so figured to tap the knowledge base. It is common here in the sandland of SC but there ain't a lot of it if that makes any sense. Knarly and twisted up, the longest straight piece I have found was the 51" piece that I made the bow out of. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

One of the hawthorns?  Do the branches have long needle like thorns?   Looks like some arrow shoots there too.

No thorns. Got some dry for arrows but haven't started yet. Wasn't excited til I worked with the wood a little.
Got another reference book ordered may figure it out with that.
Guess the name ain't as important as the wood itself but just want to know.

Looks to me like Farkleberry or as most call it Sparkleberry.

Yes we do have quite a good bit of it, and it gets pretty big.  I have never worked with it but I have my eye on a few that I have thought about giving a try.  If you do try it let me know how it turns out.  I believe it may be possible to makes a bow and arrows out of it.

James it appears to me that it is indeed Farkleberry, sparkleberry ....Vaccinium arboreum.  This stuff is wonderful bow wood.
Of course my sample was limited but there will be more. Thank you for your help.

I'vemade arrows from shoots from a blue berry bush. Both are Vacciniums.
