First primitive kill
« on: October 17, 2011, 12:20:02 pm »
Was deer hunting yesterday afternoon, it was not what I was hunting for but meat is meat. Shot him with my osage shortie and a cane arrow with a homemade trade point. First kill with primitive gear, I am hooked. The strangest thing happened, I saw the tree rat, nocked an arrow and before I know it there is a squirell with an arrow through him. It was a pure instinct shot, never had that happen with my training wheel bow. The training wheels are off for good, in fact I haven't even got it out of the case this year. Now just have to get on some deer, I have seen alot, just nothing close. Enjoy, Eric.

Dinner, future bowstring, and string silencer all taken with one shot!  And those tree rats can be as uncooperative as a whitetail buck on public land!

Nice doin's!  You have to be hooked. I am and I haven't blodded an arrow yet, have taken several shots at squirrels, but no meat yet.
Enjoy the stew!

Did you strap him onto the hood or trunk lid for the ride home?  We do it in Michigan when bringing home the big buck from the north woods.  Always wanted to do it with a squirrel....

Strapping him to the hood, that would have been funny.
