#2 for "Ol Red" 100yr fencepost bow
« on: October 17, 2011, 01:16:46 am »
Well I had an awesome morning on stand! Seen a few deer and had turkeys all over me. Just as I thought I was going to get a shot at this one turkey she stood up from resting and started looking down the ridge to my right. This nice little buck started making his way right to my stand. His attention was focused on the resting flock of birds giving me opportunity to get ready for the shot. As the turkeys spooked he settled and started to feed my way, he stepped out less than 10yds in a clearing and I let him have it!! My arrow passed right through him! The arrowhead I made over at pappys place yesterday did a number on him. It ended up 1 1/2" wide and about 140gr, needless to say it left an easy to follow bloodtrail.  >:D It wasn't long and I was standing next to my first selfbow/stone head buck!!! I cant tell you how good it feels! I got him to the back of the truck after bout a 1/2 mile drag uphill then I took him over to Alex's new place and took a couple more pics before we skinned him out. Thanks for the help bro! He sure is gonna eat good  :) :) :) I'm really loving this Tennessee livin! I think I'm gonna need a bigger freezer  ;) Thanks for lookin.

Be thankfull for all you have, because no matter how bad you think it is...it can always be worse.

Great story.
We can't hunt in the UK so it's interesting to read what a flint arrowhead will do from a self bow.
I'll bet there's some good eatin' there... think of us poor guys in the UK when you much on a tasty steak.

Nice first stone kill!!!  If I had hunted in same tree this weekend where I shot the 5ptr last saturday, I would have had my first stone kill too.  A doe walked right under the tree but I was about 20 yds away with no shot.  But thats hunting

Good job Will! That bow seems to be good luck man.
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.
