Knife
« on: June 11, 2011, 05:21:38 pm »
Well after one punch notch too many I finished this one and salvaged it by making a knife. It's hafted with pitch glue and sinew. Heck, I needed another one anyway.

Heck, there isn't anything wrong there! It looks like it was made that way on purpose. It's a nice knife.  One to be proud of!

That is some pretty rock Eddie. That would make a great toad stabber.

That's a nice looking one for finishing the job once the meat hits the ground.

     Shoot, I thought you were going to cut some of those collards with it.  Cool looking.  I got to make a knife blade sometime or another, instead of a couple of arrow heads. ;D  How do you make your pitch glue?  I have some unflavored gelatin I want to use  with some sinew, to make a knife for the Wife of a Friend of mine.  I want to make it as abbo as possible.  I have a flint blade Claude made, that I am going to use for the blade, and an antler base for the handle.  Is that dacite?

 Wayne;
It's a Kentucky Flint preform that Shannon gave me at the Classic. I make the pitch glue by taking lighter knot pine and splintting it and then boiling the crap out of it. The sap will float to the top and I just stir a small stick till I get a big ball. Then I melt it and mix in a little rabbit poop, and charcoal.
