good use for a carbon shaft
« on: June 11, 2011, 04:42:01 am »
Howdy,  I decide to make a new arrow rake to put in my quiver.   It comes ion handy when the arrow is buried in the leaves or grass.
Antler for the tine and handle and a carbon shaft in between.

Hehe, I had to chuckle, I have four of the blankets shown in the pic.

The snake stick is pretty handy, too!!

The only drawback to that is that do hickey has to then go in your quiver where that carbon shaft will be touching your beautiful handmade wooden arrows. :) Jawge

Hi,

JW-   Wool blankets come in real handy.  Everyone should have a couple.   Snake stick!  I suppose it would work well for that.    Makes dandy back scratcher, too.

Jawge-    You've got a point, but life is full of compromises.   If I could just spend another 20-40 hours a week shooting, I might get good enough I wouldn't ever have any missed arrows to look for.

I had to rig up an arrow rake yesterday because one of my blunts had magically disappeared.  They're real handy most of the time, but unfortunately it didn't help me yesterday.  Mine didn't look nearly as good as yours, either.  Just a piece of 1/4" square stock that I bent and inserted in the end of a big piece of river cane then lashed down.

Jonathon,  Whatever works!  If you've got the time though,  it's easy to add a little bling.    Ron

I actually thought about this thread when I went to make it.  I've got a few carbon express shafts laying around that I don't shoot anymore, along with some scraps of antler.  I just didn't have the time yesterday, and wanted to get back to shooting.  I do believe I'll make myself a nice one with a little bling for when I'm out in public, though.  :)
