Introducing myself with a Choctaw style bow
« on: April 28, 2011, 01:11:46 am »
I'm David, I figured I better say hello before my wife and I go to MOJAM.  I was going to do it a week ago but my goncalo alves bow finally cracked on picture day.  I made this bow since my wife is part Choctaw, it is hickory 59" ntn, 62# @ 29.5" (handle 1.3", midlim 1.75, nocks .9. looks like my pics are too big so I will post another after this.

Thank you, it shoots well and doesn't have as much hand shock as I would have expected with the wide tips these bows have

Try it out, it just got me on an Indian and D-bow kick,  I am gonna try to turn my broken tiger wood bow intoa skinny Hupa style sinewed bow.

That's a beauty, and a very nice example of Boise De Arc, that tiller couldn't be any better.

I thought it was hickory, not osage?

Either way - lovely bow, David.  Looks like you'll fit right in here ;)

Welcome. You did a great job on that tiller. I was thinking of painting a bow the exact same, with the same design and everything.
