New Reflex/Deflex Longbow
« on: March 09, 2011, 02:21:48 am »
Just finished a new bow.  This one pulls a little light for me but I love the finish!  I have two laminations of Hard Maple and one Lamination of IPE.  Pulls about 43#@28"...sweet shooting bow with lots of limb movement.

Beautiful.  Looks better than anything you'd buy in a store, that's for sure!

Thanks for the compliments.  I'll try to answer some of the questions...

My risers (front half) are cut at 16 inches as a general rule.  Sometimes I make them a little longer and sometimes they become a little shorter...but not on purpose!  There is no magic length that I have found....

The belly on these are bamboo which has been tempered to the extreme!  These are challenging to make because of the nodes and bamboo's natural movement up and down...The black color if from the charcoaled surface of the bamboo...

Robustus gave me a few tips on the dye job...he's so far out front...

wow, that belly bamboo is charred!  how do you feel about its abilities as a belly lamination?  especially prepared that way.  take lots of abuse?
