58" sinew backed heavily crowned ash

Well i made this bow some time ago. I was going to give it away to my friend tod, just to get rid of some of these bows lying around , so I wanted to take some pictures of it before I let it go. After making a new string and shooting it a bit, I don't really wanna give it away anymore, :) Thought I'd post it. It actually took some set, before I knew how to sinew good. It's from like a 2" sapling, heavily crowned back and flat belly. The crowned back made sinewing weird. Handle wrap is crappy hemp, was going to make something nicer but, eh... Specs:

58" nock to nock
Almost exactly 50# at 28"
3 layers of sinew brought this 30# bow up to 50# btw!!!

Nice little bow. I have a 2" osage split in half I may copy your design with.
  Did you cut the string groove across the back  :o or is there an overlay?  ???

Thanks Naw, there just self nocks. Used a screw driver with 100 grit sand paper wrapped around it cause my rat tail was too small...

I'd be watching the back at the nock to be sure it doesn't lift a splinter or crack on the back. You really shouldn't cut across the back unless an overlay is used.

OHH yeah, thats what you mean,. I do that ALWAYS on self nocks. I only worry about that on brittle woods or heartwoods of woods. White woods like ash/elm/hackberry have never broke at the nocks for me. You can get away with violating alot a rings with ash too. Or at least I have a got away with it, just to pass that on...  You are right though, it is always smarter to be safe with an overlay. Thank you the complement btw.

Nice Tiller...but as stated....them Nocks are Scary....about as Scary as your Fashion Statement....Lmao...seriously....nice Bow....but don't do that Rock Stuff again....and at least get you some Toe Socks..... >:D

Too many,I had it happen with some really good dense Slippery Elm,and I only had a very shallow depression across the back.Had it tillered to 31",and all I lacked was applying overlays and finish work,then ,while stretching it's new string,it split 6 " down the limb.I never make a cut across the back unless it's through an overlay. JMHO.  God Bless

He did, indeed, make a statement on fashion.. But it's okay, despite his manly, overbearing name, because I was saying "what the efffff..." as soon as I saw his socks and flip flops.

Looks like it turned out fine to me,how dose it shoot,must shoot pretty good since you don't want to give it away anymore. ;) :)
