large diamenter river cane?
« on: October 12, 2010, 06:04:32 pm »
I was wondering if cane larger than 3/8ths would shoot good. I plan on using a 40 lb. bow. What will be the flight difference in a smaller diameter cane arrow vs. a larger diameter cane arrow?

sounds like it would be way too stiff to shoot out of that bow. but only one way to find out.
make one up and shoot it.

the closer to center shot the bow is the better that would work
as a center shot bow is more forgiving of spine

ive got two selfbows that i have made, and a third that was given to me,that are very near center shot
all three shoot a very wide range of spined arrows quit accuratly
the lighter spined shafts shoot much much quiker that the heavier ones
but the heavier ones sink much deeper in to my block 4x4 target
especialy from slightly longer ranges
