bamboo Broadhead

Just had to try it. Saturated the bamboo Broad head with glue to make it harder, Pretty much all bamboo except the wrap which is flax  and used goose feathers for the Fletch  guessing spine is about 50#

Now that is kinda cool. I like it.
Have you tried to shoot a target with it to check penetration? Did it get really sharp?

Wade, I let it go to a burlap sack with foam and rags and it is about4" pen, hard to get out. Not very tip heavy, about 2" inches up center at a total 30"long.

Bet that would work well.  I've sliced my hand/fingers open a few times trying to thin that stuff down.  It can get very sharp.

You have just done what natives did thousands of years go - thought of something that would, and should, work - and used it.     Sometimes it's easy to forget that a broadhead doesn't have to be indestructible to get the job done. Hardened wood, bamboo, rawhide and probably other materials can do the trick if done correctly. And like others have said, bamboo can get pretty sharp.

This type of pragmatic thought process I believe, is the epitome of primitive archery.

Looks good. Yeah, boo will get sharp enough to make functional knives from. Dick Bernier made a couple of bamboo heads like that a few years ago, and they worked good, just a little light in weight.

My best arrows are always the ones that shoot straight before I fletch or attach a point. Then being point light does'nt seem to be a problem at all.  '  Frank

Sure is fun except the cut I got on the tip of my thumb. Gonna give the arrow to someone for Christmas.

That's a great idea!  Next time you make one you might consider doing a build-along?  Just to clear things up etc; like what size 'boo did you start with...  that kinda stuff.

I started with a 3" pole did some splittin and got a plank about 1/4 thick of a inch by 1/1/4" then cut to shape the 2 parts, after that I cut notches so the 2 parts slide into each other, glued ,shaped, cut thumb, sanded sealed, shot
