Juniper selfbow ( fulldraw pics added )
« on: May 03, 2010, 12:20:43 pm »
Hello,
This bow is made out of a 3" diameter juniper tree .
Its 66,147 " N /N long
pulls 54# @ 28"
My first plan was to make a longbow D - style out of it but, as i removed the bark and saw the beautiful character of the stave , I tried to catch as much as possible from all the knots and curves.
Enough words, here are some pics

Here pulled to 24" :

I will ad full draw pics later .
Hope you like it , acker

That is one very beautiful, character-laden juniper bow.  You did a great job on it, that's one anyone would be proud to own.   :)

Looks great Acker.  Juniper is wonderful bow wood. I wish I had access to more of it.

That's a great looking bow! Juniper is one of the only woods I have access to around here I love it though. Good job!

Superb results from a tricky, but beautiful stave. The braced profile is simply perfect !!

 :-[ :-[ Thank you all :)
I like to work with juniper , its smells so nice when you scrape it and its a lovely bow wood.
Its the third juniper bow for this year and it wont be the last one.
I will still make a new D style longbow and a shorter one backed with sinew... ::)

Thanks for your nice comments.
