bow finish after dyed?

Hey yall
I am going to dye my first bow with black rit from the tips, bout 8" down, and finish the mid bow with a cherry stain.
My question is, how many coats of true oil, and what is a good finish over the true oil? Is it necessary to finish after true oil?

Good hard wax is good on top of most finishes. Truoil will penetrate a bit. Keep putting it on with ample drying time between coats till you get a hard glossy surface. Then break the glaze with steelwool and wax.

Ron,I use tru-oil as my final finish.Use your finger to apply even smooth coats.With osage 10 coats will usually do it.With more open grain woods,such as hickory,you may need 15 coats.Just keep applying till it suits you. God Bless
