indirect percussion and other stuff.
« on: March 14, 2010, 02:33:21 pm »
they arent the prettiest things but the 4 larger pieces were done using indirect percussion. billet and antler punches were used to do all the thinnning and edge work. i need to clean up the edges on all of em. the other stuff is more 125 gr +/- points, and i treid my hands at some "bird points" again.

Awesome.  Like the stone you're using.  Looks like tough stuff.

thanks guys. the big stuff is perd. the points are a mix of texas dover and a johnstone.. birds are geaorgetown, english and normanskill. really like the indirect percussion. scary part is sometimes it removes too much material. that corner notch i almost broke a couple times.

Great looking work jamie!  Glad you took a few minutes to rest. ;)  You must not have any kids.  When mine aren't keeping me busy with other things, they're trying to take my knapping tools and material! :o  I'm glad they're interested anyway.  It's kinda hard to teach something you haven't learned very well yourself though! ::)
