Juniper sapling bow
« on: March 06, 2010, 08:03:01 pm »
This is one of my bows from our sapling bow tournament in the german bow forum " Fletchers corner"

Its a juniper selfbow
 66,5" N/N
 45# @ 26"

here i harvested the juniper ,

the rings, about 1,5" in diameter

the sapling:

cut into half, the tiny one in the middle is the becoming bow stave

The juniper didn't like it at all to dry quick and that happend to it : a deep and long crack

I filled the crack with epoxy and secured it with linen and cherrybark.

on almost brace hight:

tiller:

belly:

finished , dear antler overlays and leather handle

Hope you like it.

here are two other bows that i made during the tournament
a hazel and dogwood (white / black one):

A good full draw picture would round this set of pictures off nicely.
