Ash Bow for a Marine
« on: January 10, 2010, 06:42:52 pm »
I just finished this for a friend whose son is on his 3rd Middle East tour - couldn't hunt together this season, so we cut an Ash on his property, and I made this one. 67"NTN - 57#@28. Has 1" of follow - really nice shooter. Hope you like it.

Looks like a fine bow, I would like to see a close up of the riser as it looks great.
Also a great gesture making a bow for one of our serviceman :)

Looks like a fine bow to me. Ash is one of my favorite bow woods, and I suspect that at least one Marine is going to think so too.

The neat part of this is that last fall before Jr left for duty, I took over a Maple bow I'd made, and he picked it up and after a few rounds was shooting nice groups at 15 -18 yds. Said " man, this is FUN !!!" Think it's gonna be a good surprise !! Thanks for the input everyone.

Like Chesty Puller said the first time he saw a flamethrower, " if this is for a Marine where do you mount the bayonet?"
Just kidding, I'll bet that Jarhead is sitting in his fighting hole dreaming about getting back and taking the bow you made him out hunting. Not only is it a fine weapon but it also connects him to the future back here stateside. You done good barebo.
