bow woods of eastern ny

hi, i was just wondering what kind of bow woods grow in eastern new york.
ive read the lists of bow woods but i dont want to search for a tree that doesnt
even grow locally.

Eastern Upstate or Eastern LI?  I'm located in Eastern LI.  We have locust, locust and more locust.  Also Oak, a little Osage if you can find an old pre-potato hedgerow.  If you are talking about Eastern upstate, you probably have ash, locust, hickory, elm, hornbeam.  Just a guess.

New York is basically Canada right. 

Sugar maple is a fine bow wood.

Never quite looked at New York being " basically Canada" before !!!! Hmmmm - we DO border Canada, but the similarities end there !!
There are a LOT of white woods, and I hear scarce accounts of Osage here and there. You should have no problem finding Hickory , or as mentioned Hard Maple, Birch, Ash, some Elm, Service Berry, Oaks, Hornbeam, and others. We're blessed with white woods in NY. Where are you located I'm in the central part of the state, but the trees we have go right into Mass. and Vt. Northeastern
hardwoods seem pretty generic.
