osage tannin?

Does osage bark/sawdust have enough tannin to tan deer hides? Just wonderin how you think it would work. Should give it a nice color.

Someone told me once that they used to use Osage to dye Khaki pants, I don't know if that's right or not but I bet a google search would tell you.

Yes it does give quill and horsehair, thats what it tried it for a quick tanning. Boil it in water and put the stuff into when its cooled a bit.
It will give a nice yellow which gets darker in time as the wood does.
