Scored on a small 7 pointer
« on: November 05, 2009, 09:09:12 am »
Got this 7 point buck yesterday morning with my Hawthorne bow.  That's the third buck that's fallen to that bow, and the 4Th deer in two seasons. I almost let this small buck pass by me, but with so little time to hunt this year and deer sightings being a rare occasion this year. I decided I better not pass what might be my only opportunity for a shot at a legal deer. I'm thankful for the meat on the table and in the freezer. Made about a 17 yard shot on him, self nock cedar arrow tipped with a magnus 125 head. The arrow penetrated up to the Fletch's right behind the front shoulder and he ran about 15 yards and the arrow pulled out the other side for a pass through shot. He ran about a hundred yards or so before expiring. Thanks for looking.  8)

Thanks guys. I'll admit it was a little hard to let the arrow go on this little guy after last years buck, but at least my wife is happy. She says I'm not allowed to shoot anymore big ones. She says we don't have anymore room on the wall for another one and the big one's are to tough and gamey......lol.  I just wish we were allowed more than one buck a year in PA. You guys is TN don't know how good you got it. That's the exist hole in the picture by the way the entrance was about mid way up in the other side. He was shot from a tree stand. The shot placement looks perfect but I actually only got the very bottom of one lung and the liver which surprised me.....

Nice bit of shooting Ryan

I just wish we were allowed more than one buck a year in PA. You guys is TN don't know how good you got it.
You don't know how good you have it also.  We are allowed to shoot 1 buck and 1 doe, but only if you draw the tags. Usually about every other year you can get a doe. If you bow hunt you can  draw a buck tag every year, rifle is about 2 years out of 3.
Everything happens for a reason, sometimes the reason is you made a bad decision.
