Osage with Copperhead skins
« on: September 30, 2009, 09:28:47 pm »
Here's my latest bow.  It is Osage with Copperhead skins.  The leather wrap is some bucksin I tanned.  I originally left it a white color but took it off and smoked it for about an hour to add a little bit of color.  I like the smoked leather much better with the snake skins.  Silencers are coyote.  72" NTN and 65 lbs at 27 inches.  The 5 arrow average with a 530 grain arrow chrono'd out at 158 fps.  She shoots smooth and quiet- definitely a keeper  ;D

That is definatly one of my favorites so far!  The copperhead skins really hit the spot too.  Those are my favorite snakes (weird thing to say I guess).  Those were two good sized copperheads, or did you seamlessly join more than two to cover those limbs?  Very nice looking bow.

Very nice - those skins are excellent and that handle wrap really does it up!  Nice job!

nice bow tiller and skins loook great!!   really like how you shaped the tips too.  Kinda looks like the triangular head of the copperhead!   Did you intend for that?   Looks cool!!!   :) -josh

Thanks for the compliments guys.  Hillbilly- I love that one  ;D  Anytime someone asked me if I watched such and such last night, my usual reply is "No, I think the new Dora or Wiggles was on."  Josh- I didn't, but I guess now that you pointed that out, I could just say so  O:)  Mike at the TN Classic last year showed me that tip and I really liked it.  Sweeney- those are two skins, both over 3 feet long.
