Have any of you guys found a matte oil based finish that does a reasonable job of keeping out moisture?
I have tried Tung oil (too much shine) and am not overly impressed; could be that I just didn't apply enough coats though.

i love tung oil, penetrates and protects, looks great...i wet sand it in going all the way up to 600 grit and the result is fkn awesome.
If you don't like the shine, use some tru-oil and just buff it down after a few coats

Any gloss shine can be dulled with a good steel wool buffing. I do mine with #oooo steel wool dipped in paste wax. ART

A quick spray of satin poly over your shiny finish will give you a nice matte finish.

I'm not sure how good it would do in heavy humidity situations, but Danish oil has virtually no sheen.

Tung oil is great for furniture in doors,
but is not water resistant. It don't get any easier than Tru Oil with a shot of satin poly of spar eurathane to kill the gloss.
I have to add this, I just did some research on Tung Oil, Pure Tung oil is water resistant, I've always thought it wasn't sorry
