My first Sonora Points
« on: July 27, 2009, 08:26:23 pm »
Shannon sent me a box of his debitage(sloppy seconds :D) of Sonora chert. Best rock I've worked to date, this
stuff is sweet. Anyway I knocked these two out, the karger one is 3/16" thick and the smaller one is a 1/4" thick.
Thinking of nibbling the larger one down to match the other ??? Thanks Shannon you can send me your debitage anytime ;D

Good job on those, Dana. That stuff is sweet to chip. I've got a good buddy slicing some up for me.

Mighty fine job Dana.

Bob. I'd send ya some. But the "Rock Whore" got all my sloppy seconds, and "Afro Bug Eater" got most of the chunks that needed sawing.  Between what them two wound up with and what I've destroyed...I'm about out. :(
Be thankfull for all you have, because no matter how bad you think it is...it can always be worse.

Don't you mean "Drunken Afro Bug Eater?" ;D Dana, those look great-you're really coming along with the knapping. They look deadly. Shannon, what's the difference between Sonora and KY hornstone? They look similar, I've never messed with any Sonora.

Nice, practical hunting  points.

Good use of secondary pieces-I like using that stuff and you used it well. Keep it up!
