another Ipe/Boo
« on: July 19, 2009, 01:09:52 pm »
I think I'm done with this one. I have redone the stain job 3 times. I'm satisfied with it now,, I think. I got this highly reflex/deflex blank from David Knight at the Tennesee Classic this year. I wanted to make a lighter, but fast shooting bow for a hog hunt that myself, Chris Cade and Pappy are going on at the Alexacarrie Plantation in August.

This little rocket launcher is 60"nock to nock, 49# @ 28". It is 1 1/8"wide from the handle, except the last 8", tapering sharply to needle tips of Fiddleback Maple. It is shooting 455 grn., Tonkin shafts in the high 180's through the chronograph. I think I'll call this bow" Öatmeal", the oats should be about knee high when we get there.

Nice job . I may have to wrap my handle like that. Those knightd cores are fast. I love mine.

Great bow Eddie. That looks like one of Davids blanks to me. I could pick one out of a lineup I'm pretty sure :). They do make some fast bows. Is that from the high r/d blank? You did a great job finishing it. I like the compass. Didn't bear bows have that for a while? Good idea actually. Easy to forget your compass but when its on the bow you'll always have it.  Top limb looks a tad stiff in the mid outer to me. could just be the angle. How it shoots is what counts and it sounds like it shoots great. :)

Jess, I think it's the angle, see the sun off the boo on the top limb. I'll post pictures for sure,David and Ronnie, it suprised me how fast. Rick, I almost added a thermometer on the other side but thought that was too much. Chris, thanks for the confidence vote, Buddy ;).

Yup its the angle. It's easy to get that taking pictures of such curvy bows. I have a hard time judging them even looking straight on sometimes ;D  If you're putting up more pics I'd like to see more of that handle and compass. Might copy it if you dont mind
