Howdy Akila,

Your bow is very nice...  It's simple, primitive, yet with a deadly elegance

The handle is unique, I hope it fits in your hand nicely.

Please tell us more about the raw hide backing.  Does it go all the way up the to tips or up to string wrappings.  And, does the horn overlays extend to the string wrap 4 inches (10 cm)?  If yes, then please explain why you decided to do it that way?  (Not that that is a bad thing.)

Ash, I think, is under rated, or under used.  I'm working on a pile of Ash that I collected and split a few years ago.  I was able to get five or six, large split staves from each of three logs.  And now, I'm finding that I can getting more that one bow from most of those staves.  I'm really liking the straightness of the Ash wood.

Thanks for sharing,

Nice looking bow, it looks almost like the one I have. Even the color is the same, good job!

That's a sweet looking bow! 8)  How thick is the rawhide backing?  What kind of glue did you use for the backing?  I like it a lot.  Joe H

HI guys.....the raw hide backing is aboute 2mm. thick....this is the only thing i could find here in romania....its a bone made from raw hide for dogs...i glue the raw hide with hide glue....the backing  dosent cover the entire back of the bow...u can see in the picture some wrapings ....the backing is up to the wrapings...the horn cow overlays is aboute 1,5" long....so, its not so long.... ash is a good wood bow, but  u have to make the bow  a little wider .....

Avery nice job, but I did notice a slight area for improvement.

The handle fades are a bit severe and should taper past the widest point of the limbs, and not at the widest point of the limbs.

More thoughts of mine on handles here:  http://analogperiphery.blogspot.com/2007/03/selfbow-handle-dimensions.html

Once again, nice job., A beautiful bow.
