Angled tips

When Angling tips to pu ton overlays, Is there an advantage to doing tips this way? How about a build along.PK

Phil, I think it is purely aesthetic. It does decrease the physical weight and profile of the tips.

there's no need for angling perfectly flat board bows before adding overlays, but when there's a crown, like on bamboo or saplings, or even big-diameter staves, you'll need to get a flat surface for the glue-up. this will have to be more or less angled, or you'll have to flatten the whole back

As Nick mentioned, if there's a crown it's necessary to angle them to some degree
