sitting here in my truck knapping and had some thoughts for new guys. 1 dont use a death grip on the stone. 2 just because its ground amd below center doesnt make it a platform you should strike.. Im on my phone and will explain later if somebody doesnt do it first, peace

I agree Jamie. Surface contours have a lot to do with how the flake will detach, so even if the edge is below centerline, if the face the flake will come off is flat, you'll still likely end with a step fracture

I still break thinned points doing that. You have to stop and breathe. It may be hard as stone, but you do have to be nice to it.
