hackberry bow
« on: February 11, 2009, 06:23:57 pm »
First self bow, made from a hackberry trimmed limb 46" long, backed with pet store dog bone rawhide. It end up to be a 40#@22",a little short, but fun to shoot.Started making tomato stake arrows. Thanks to the members for the helpful info.   http://s664.photobucket.com/albums/vv9/dunstan88/?action=tageditmany

thats a nice short bow.  looks like it needs to bend a little closer to the fades.  imho.  I have made a few 52" pony bows with hackberry.  its really tough  wood for being so light.  my short hackberry bows handle a 25" draw with no problems.  easy wood to work with too!!  great job!!!
