I cut some pear last summer and roughed out a bow blank to dry. A few months of slow dry then hung above the wood stove to finish drying. Made a bow from it this week. Very light, quick and a pleasure to shoot. Pear white wood (stained), Kingwood tip overlays, JD style handle, 63" 52# @ 27"

Here it is at about 26" - one man circus with the 10 second timer.

That is one fine lookin bow Shaun! I thought about a pear tree for awhile that the neighbor had pushed down but procrastinated just long enough for the bugs to make dust out of it, looks like I should have taken advantage of it

In these photos it has a shellac sealer over the stain. After some touch up it gets some finish coats of Tru-oil

Great looking bow. Is it from a fruiting pear, or one of the ornamentals like the Bradford pear?

The tree was a fruiting hard pear, frost pear we call them. They are a common old variety and they wild seed in the woods like apples.
