Cowboy, ya' done real good on this'n. At least you won't have to hunt big critters with that "ol' chicken snake" bow this fall. Good luck with them doves.  David

Cowboy,

Killer piece. How does a person go about taking a crooked stave like that one was and gettin' it as straight as you did? I never have seen how to straighten a stave if its crooked left to right.

i'm not really sure myself as i have never attempted this as of yet.

however i have read on here that to remove side to sdie bends to use moist heat.

Wow! Thanks ya'll ;D. It's a joy to shoot and a real thumper ;).
Papa Matt: What I generally do is rough out the bow, steam in the recurves and use dry heat (heat gun) to straighten out all the bends. Just eyeballl down the stave and start heating and straightening, usually wind up losing some of the recurve if thier's a bend in that area - if so I heat on the other recurve till it matches. Not sure that's the best way but it's working for me - think I'm going to start straightening before recurving though, would be easier.

Thanks Pete! And this is really simple :). Take a wall Mart sack or some such and tear off a small peice, kinda crumple it into a wad, then dip it into your dye, blob it onto a 2X4 or something to get off the drips and start dabbing it onto your bow back. Looks great..
