side stalker

Inspired by nugget's amazing quiver, I made this out of elk hide. Not as stiff as it should be but it's functional.  Now if I could just find some natural looking arrows like his. Very jelious.

I like it ,Benjamin. That should do the job and the soft leather will be quiet also.

thats looks awesome sir, your arrows are cool too, you might want a thicker strap though if you got a lot of arrows in there the string might start to cut in a bit, but looks good anyway! ;D

Drawing the arrow is usually pretty quiet but the feathers rustling together during the draw is kinda loud and I have to pull the arrow up 6'' or so to get it out so it goes up that far from the top of the quiver. It seems like it would flag the deer. Anyone have experience hunting with this style quiver?

i have hunted my whole life and for the most part when you are getting close on a stalk of a deer or elk you should have one out already. but i also hunt on the ground not in a tree stand so i don't know if that would be any different. and as far as the feathers making noise, if you are close enough to it for it to hear that (if you are going slow and steady) you should just pick up a rock and hit it because you are way close. all in all that is a great quiver and should work great for you.

That's what I was thinkin.  And then just make the first arrow count ;)

I think you will be happy with that type of quiver.  Did you put anything in there to stiffen it? I'm just thinking if you didn't, the arrows might start to work their way up if you are walking for a long time, and the quiver might fold over on itself.  Just thinking out loud... might not be an issue at all.

Nice job!
