Another Osage Bow Finished
« on: February 06, 2025, 05:40:33 pm »
Got my hunting bow done for the upcoming seasons. Osage selfbow, 64", 58#@28"
Rattlesnake skins, bocote/purpleheart tip overlays with Ostrich leather grip and shelf, beaver tail strike plate. Vinagroon stain. Stave had a few inches of natural reflex from mid-limb to the tip on top, both limbs hold some after being unstrung. It also has twist both ways. Pic of unstrung profile was taken immediately after shooting. She shoots hard and hits where I want. Tried the dot border for the first time, I dig it. Always thought it looked cool 😎

Yup, that’s a really nice looking bow. I’m with you, always liked the dots along the edges and the overlays look great next to the snakeskins.  (SH) :-D

I saw this on Facebook today. Ain't she a little stinker? Mighty pretty lines and I can only imagine she behaves nicely when the string gets dropped, too!
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

Very nice bow man!  Love the handle wrap.   Very cool.  The tiller looks quite good too.
Sticks and stones and other poky stabby things.

Thanks, Dave! Upper limb gave me fits with the reflex and two-way twist. I did what I could with the caul, but didn't get all the twist out to make it easier to my eyes. Shoots great and feels balanced so I called it good enough for who it's for.  (SH)
