Yew Bow
« on: April 09, 2023, 04:25:13 pm »
I don't build many bows anymore, as most know I am involved in lots of bows just don't build many for my self. any way I had a nice piece of Yew that was gifted me by Kennan several years ago at the Classic, probably at least 10 years ago, maybe more. It had been in my rafters and I decide to make a bow from it, it was a short piece about 59 inches T-T so I made this one 57 N-N I have a fairly short draw 26 but decide to RDit just the same, I like RD bow, they are almost very smooth and shoot well. It turned out 57 n-n 47@26 hemp wrap soake it supper glue then sanded smooth, cow horn tip over lays, shoot really smooth and pretty quick, this just may be my new hunting bow for the year, time will teel that but I really do like the way it handles and shoots. Thanks for looking.  :)

Last one unstrung. :) Yew is beautiful wood, I don't make many from it but when it works it make a very sweet light weight bow.  :)

I would be happy with that bow.   Very nice.  I’m making one similar to this but longer for myself also.  I hope it turns out as nice as this one.  I love the stiff tips too it looks very smooth shooter.   Yew is nice.  Too bad it’s little harder to come by.  Cheers

I bet that is a real pleasant bow to shoot, yew with the rf/df is a great combo.

Nice bow, pappy. Yew makes a fine bow.
