Most of the southern rifles I see have a little less height at the nose of the comb. It seems like I read if you put a straight edge on the top of the butt stock it should intersect with the tang bolt.

Looking good! A little change can make the lines flow better.

Here is one with a high comb, it looks a little unbalanced and clunky.

Made the front sight from a boars tusk that Butch Stone sent me.  Butch told me that he found the tusk 50 or so years ago under a bluff overhang when trapping. No telling the story behind this piece of tusk and will add some real medicine to this rifle.

Got all the ramrod stuff done. All thats left is penning the trigger guard the touch hole and nose cap. Then the patch box. Starting to loose weight now!

Got the patchbox lid inlet and ready to screw down. Then remove the cavity wood and latch and spring it.

I struggled with the latch on my patchbox, I made at least 5 before I got one to work properly. I made my last out of a piece of reciprocating saw blade.

Here are the failures with the one that worked;
