57" rawhide and snake skinned Osage
« on: October 21, 2019, 08:55:40 am »
This bow had a mild concavity on the back of one limb that splinters were lifting. I patched it with sinew then applied rawhide to the entire back. After shooting it a LOT I decided it was going to make it and decided to skin it also. Its pulling 50 at 28". I will apply a finish of spar urethane over it in a few days.

Nice looking bow, and good wood. I hope it holds up, and you get years of use from it.

Almost finished. 52lbs @26". Need to wrap the ends of the skins, then add a shelf and window pad.

Good job on the bow, Jim. But this is what really impresses me. Amazing dedication to your country and very admirable.

Very nice, I like that full draw photo.  That's a good looking bend.  I'm liking the three fingers under these days, as well.

Here's my Brad Smith osage bow, Spirit Dancer, ready to go to the woods next week once I'm cleared by the doctor...following a stint with a stent.    :)
On still he goes with back berond of cedar shafts with feather frond;
for him the great success you see, is not to get, but just to be,
amidst the oak and the hickory tree.
