Archery season opener traditions
« on: September 15, 2019, 08:31:51 am »
Anyone want to share their big game archery opener tradition?

Here’s mine. Shave the beard off with a broadhead. A good test of if your getting them sharp enough. Here’s where I could get to with mine before I had to resort to proper shaving equipment. A little clean up and the mustache. I started doing this about 5 years ago or so.

My tradition is to beg my dad to take me hunting, then when he says he'll think about it i contact my hunting buddies to see if i can go with them when my dad isn't able to. then i invite him and if he can come he will. But i just got him into pheasant hunting!!!!

I have to say i got a great dad! i love him lots!

Take good care of him!  He could turn out to be your best hunting partner!  He might even know more than you realize! (lol). Besides that, he's got the car keys!

I think if I have a tradition, it is trying to force myself to bed and not sleeping well, rather than not going to bed and not sleeping well!  0-early-30 always comes too soon!  I'm usually out for the late morning rush.  The evening hunt time frame suits my body clock!  But we've gotten about as many animals mid day as early or late, with rifles.  Still have to score with my bow!  Of course, there is the equipment check routine!

Buy a can of Permitian and spray the clothes that I'd be wearing...

I grow a beard. I'm less ugly that way, and the deer dont scare as easy.

I get everything ready to go. So after a not so good sleep and constantly looking at the clock I can get dressed two hours before Daylight and walk to my spot. Get settled in and watch the sun come up with a hot cup of coffee.

I sharpen broad heads, buy an extra Thermosel and plenty of mosquito repellent and sunblock.
