Brothers of the Hedge
« on: July 30, 2019, 09:37:49 am »
Did some cutting other day off farm up the road. My 2nd Batt Ranger bud hunts and farms this place. Had a big Osage tree tip over. Got three 80" sections out of this bugger. Stuff looks OK for Tennessee Hedge. Figgered it to be a 70yr old tree.

Lots of stripping and sealing to do!  Nice load!  Plenty of staves to work on - you could develop orange vision! (lol)

That’s some good Osage I don’t care where it grew. No excuses in that pile. I would be interested in a couple of those staves if they could be sold for a good price. I’m not cheap when it comes to good staves. To my knowledge I have never built a Osage bow from Tennessee Osage. Arvin
Well I'll say!!  Osage is king!!

Did you know the intermountain west is the best climate for seasoning Osage? I'd be willing to help a brother out. . .

Jeff,
We could have the whole batch cured for him by late fall, most likely! >:D :BB (SH)
